Edexcel GCSE PE - Skill related components of fitness (lesson, powerpoint, activities)

Includes: Lesson power point and learning outcomes. Starter activity which recaps previous lesson on health related components of fitness. Introduction activity to skill related C.O.F - give each group one of the starter activity sheets - they need to identify the C.O.F being shown. (Speed is being shown in the cover image!) Discuss as a group to name all 6. Give each student one handout of the ‘definition power point’ slides. They need to decide which C.O.F this relates to. (I did this as an exercise where they move around the room and put all the ‘speed’ ones on one table, for example!) Clarify the definitions & sporting examples using the remaining slides on the power point, getting students to complete their worksheet (differentiated). Apply learning by answering one of the exam questions on each C.O.F. (I did this in groups & then got students to write up individual answers after they had discussed how they would answer it). Enjoy

PE KS3 Cricket Scheme of Work

PE KS3 Cricket Scheme of Work

(0)
I have created an 8 lesson scheme of work which I will be using after Easter with all of my core PE groups from Y7-9. They are designed to be easily adaptable to allow for changes to be made to suit groups of different abilities / needs. Each practice allows for scaffolding for less able students and progressions for more able students. Each lesson includes a warm up / starter activity, learning outcomes, a skill development practice with progressions and a game at the end. The groups I will be working with will generally be fairly low ability for cricket, which means the main focus of this S.O.W is developing batting and fielding skills. I will develop bowling by using underarm / throw downs / drop feeds if necessary. I will also be using these games and skill development practices with my KS4 groups. Most of the activities in this SOW can be taught in an indoor environment - which is useful due to the weather we are likely to get! We have indoor nets which will allow me to adpat lessons to having some students working on batting / bowling in the nets, and others working on catching skills / fielding on the other side. I have also included some resource cards for batting, bowling and fielding. I don’t often use them in lessons, although some may find them useful.

KS3 PE Theory lessons – Year 8 – Sports psychology / Socio-cultural influences

(0)
These lessons were created to be embedded into the KS3 curriculum and give students a taste of what studying PE at KS4 entails. The aim of these lessons is to give students a basic understanding of key topics studied in GCSE PE and engage students in a different way of learning in KS3 PE lessons which would normally be completely practically based. Students will complete one theory lesson during each block of practical lessons throughout the year (one theory lesson every 6-7 weeks). Throughout KS3 students should develop a basic understanding of all topics before starting GCSE PE in year 10. The lessons were tailored to the Edexcel GCSE PE (2016) specification and each year group focuses on a different topic within their lessons. *Would be suitable for other GCSE PE qualifications with similar content. *Also useful as a wet weather / cover lesson to keep students engaged in a classroom. Included: 7 lessons based around one ‘Big Question’ on Sport psychology and Socio-cultural influences. A graphic organiser / booklet which can be printed out and given to students to work in each lesson (in place of working in an exercise book). A PowerPoint with all 7 lessons – Each lesson including… o Title slide o Engage/starter tasks o Shared learning outcomes – using big & small question o Share new information – Students fill in the blanks in their booklets to gather new information shared in the lesson. o Mini plenaries to check understanding throughout the lesson. o Tasks – Application activities where students demonstrate their learning. o Final task is to complete the ‘small question’ for the lesson which involves an extended answer. Hints included to support students with what to include and a ‘WAGOLL’ of what a good one looks like! o Plenary task to wrap up the lesson. Links to GCSE curriculum: Each lesson includes GCSE content which has been simplified / scaffolded to be suitable for younger students. Extended answers to the small question at the end of the lesson use the same ‘PEB’ structure that is encouraged at GCSE level (Point, Explain, Benefit). *Some videos which were initially embedded into the PPT have been removed to reduce file size. Links for the videos have been posted into the slides.
